This is a question we hear daily.

Depending on the type of bird you have/want, they usually range anywhere from 15-80 plus years. Small parrots will range from 15-20 years such as your Cockatiels, Conures and Quakers. Medium size such as your African Greys, Eclectus and some smaller to medium Cockatoos can live 30-40 years. Amazon’s on the other hand, are known to make it 60-80 years of age! Your larger parrots such as Macaws and the larger species of Cockatoos can range a lifespan of 40-60 years.

Note that these are all safe estimates. Depending on nutritional diet, the care you give to your parrot and mental stimulation, you can have birds that exceed these estimates.

Finding the right feathered friend for you and your family is so important, considering they can be with you for a good part of your life!
